I believe in miracles.

Raise your hand if you’ve ever experienced a miracle.
I know I can’t see you (I haven’t totally lost it!) But raise your hand anyway!

In case you are wondering, I am indeed raising my hand.

I have experienced many miracles. So many in fact, I am a bit afraid I may not have noticed them all. My miracles have been varied, some seemingly more miraculous than others, but all were miracles just the same. No doubt you are already aware of the miracle I am experiencing in my life presently; Miss Amelia, my angel baby.

My miracles “small” and “large” include:
3 pregnancies, Noah, surviving 1 major car accident, my son’s baptism (and my own), finding Tim (he would joke that the fact that I love him is a miracle), there are a few plants that have survived my care, I have met an angel while she was here on earth…^Morgan^, and I have felt God’s hand in the prevention of so many catastrophes…there really are to many to list.

In many ways, I feel as if “my” miracles have served as reality checks. They remind me that my hope is justified, that there is never a cause to give up and that our God is an AWESOME God. What saddens me is how easily I forget to believe in miracles. How quickly I can lose touch of the childlike faith to which I cling. We live in a sad and cynical world that can easily overcome us, consume us and keep us from noticing the miracles that are happening all around us everyday.

So here’s what I would ask of you.
Send me a miracle, one of your miracles.

I won’t publish them here (at least not without asking)
They don’t need to be “big,” to anyone but you
Just a few, itty bitty miracles to help us all remember to believe.

I can’t wait to read them…

Miracle - An event that appears inexplicable by the laws of nature and so is held to be supernatural in origin or an act of God

Webster’s defines a miracle as: 1. an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs 2. an extremely outstanding or unusual event, thing or accomplishment.

There are miracles everyday. When I was pregnant with my first child, I experienced a miracle. I had already had three miscarriages and surgery to correct a birth defect in my uterus. I got pregnant four months later with Jay my oldest. I started spotting at seven weeks and went to the dr. They did an u/s and found no heartbeat. He scheduled me to come back in one week when he had me scheduled for a D&C. I went to that appt. and he did another u/s just to be sure before the procedure. Guess what? There was my little man's heart just beating away. The tech went and got the dr. and he said he just could not explain it. I could!!! Also the day my precious Eli was born was a miracle. Not the miracle we so desperately prayed for, but one even so. I have blogged about that miracle on my blog.

Melissa, I don't think I've ever told you about my pregnancy with Adam. At around 7 months, my body was ready to deliver. The baby was big and my body was done. The doctors wanted me to have an amniocentesis. They feared the baby had Down Syndrome or some other problem. I asked if knowing that would help with the delivery and they said 'no'. I declined the test and all the problems it can bring on. My condition was polyhydromnios (more amniotic fluid than normal). (I just went onto a website to make sure I was spelling things right after all these years. They now say that polyhydromnios can be caused by anencephaly. You and I have more in common than I realized.) I believed that God would not give Galen and me more than we could handle. And, He didn't. Our miracle...a perfectly healthy boy...a little on the big size (8#10oz) but perfect all the same. I am praying for your miracle, Amelia.

Miracles are real...you are the miracle in Amelia's life. Being a mother is one of God's greatest miracles. Who do you know better than a mother who will unconditionally protect her young...a miracle. Who do you know better than a mother who will love her child under any circumstances...a miracle. Who do you know better than a mother who will have all hope that is Godly possible...a miracle. Who do you know better than a mother who provides the life giving blood to nurture her young while in her womb...a miracle. Amelia's life represents the miracle she has in her mother. God's blessings are so abundant...we are simply to ask Him for all that we need, and He will provide. I believe in miracles and will never stop believing. Amelia believes in miracles and she will always believe. Don't stop believing...I won't.

I do believe in miracles.

One is when I was in college and got into a motorcycle accident. I know God was watching over me during it b/c I should have been much worse off than I was.

Another I can think of off the top of my head is when I was pregnant w/ my daughter Kyndra. I was 26 wks and had severe bleeding that they thought was a placenta abruption. I got shipped off to a larger hospital b/c they thought I was going to deliver but I didn't. Everything was fine and they could find no evidence of an abruption and Kyndra acted like she wasnt bothered at all. I know it was God and all the prayers lifted up for us.
